SERVICES

What we handle

Every job is property-specific. These are the most common ways we work with Central Oregon acreage owners.

Ladder Fuel Reduction

Clearing sagebrush, bitterbrush, and low-hanging limbs that give fire a path from the ground up. One of the highest-impact steps most properties can take before fire season.

Selective Juniper Thinning

Strategic thinning and removal of juniper to reduce fire risk while preserving the character of the land. We're creating defensible spacing — not clearing it bare.

Underbrush Clearing

For wooded pine acreage where dense underbrush, dead material, and overcrowded growth have built up fuel load over time. We clear what's creating fire risk and leave the healthy, established trees standing.

Defensible Space Creation

Clearing and thinning in the zone around homes, cabins, and outbuildings — the area that matters most when fire is moving toward a structure.

Access + Perimeter Clearing

Clearing along fence lines, driveways, and property perimeters. Keeps emergency access open and reduces fire pathways onto your property.

Land Management for 1-200+ Acre Properties

Not every property needs the same thing. With 25+ years of Central Oregon forestry experience, we know how to assess your specific property and handle exactly what it needs.

2026 Fire Season

This year's fire season is shaping up to be a bad one. The snowpack is down. The ground is dry. If you've lived here long enough, you know what that means.

Across Central Oregon — whether you've got juniper and sagebrush or ponderosa pine and underbrush — the risk is the same. Ladder fuel gives fire a path. Density gives it speed. And once it's moving, it moves fast.

Protecting your property doesn't mean clearing it bare.

How We Work

Every property is different.

We treat it that way.

Central Oregon acreage isn't one-size-fits-all. Juniper flats near Redmond have completely different needs than pine forest outside Sisters or mixed brush on a Prineville ranch.

Before we touch anything, we assess your specific property — what's creating risk, what's healthy, what stays, and what needs to go. Then we build a plan around that and walk you through it.

What that looks like in practice:

  • Selective thinning to reduce fire risk without stripping the land

  • Ladder fuel reduction around structures and property perimeters

  • Underbrush clearing that preserves healthy, established trees

  • Maintaining ground cover to protect soil and keep dust down

The goal is a property that's meaningfully safer — and still looks like Central Oregon when we're done.

FAQ

Questions we hear on every property

Is this clear-cutting?

No. Everything we do is selective thinning and targeted fuel reduction. When we're done, your land still looks like Central Oregon.

Will my property end up looking bare or over-cleared?

No. Properly thinned land in this region looks better than overgrown land — more open, healthier trees, more like the park-like forests this area is known for. We also leave ground cover intact where it matters to keep dust down.

Will this create a dust bowl on my property?

It's a fair concern and one we take seriously on every job. We're deliberate about how we work — leaving woody biomass on the ground where it matters, avoiding unnecessary soil disturbance, and never clearing more than what's needed. Keeping your land intact is part of the job, not an afterthought.

Does thinning actually reduce fire risk?

Significantly. No one stops a wildfire. But removing ladder fuel and creating defensible spacing keeps fire on the ground instead of in the canopy, slows its speed, and gives your structure a fighting chance.

Are there grants available to help cover costs?

Yes. Oregon Department of Forestry and several federal programs offer per-acre funding for qualifying fire mitigation work. Ask us when you reach out and we'll point you in the right direction.

Why are so many Central Oregon property owners doing this now?

Dry conditions, heavier fuel loads, drought stress, and increasingly active fire seasons have made proactive wildfire mitigation a priority across the region. This year especially — the snowpack is already low and fire season is shaping up to be a serious one.
